Growing the Gospel in the 10/40 Window

In Turkey, a nation of over 86 million people, the reality is sobering—99% have likely never encountered the message of Jesus Christ. Home to 57 unreached language groups, entire communities remain cut off from the Gospel. Strict government control, revoked visas, and limited missionary presence make it one of the most challenging regions for long-term access.

This is why innovative strategies are essential for reaching those still waiting to hear.

Creative Access through Hazelnut Farming

To overcome these barriers, a team of Frontline Workers in Turkey turned to an unexpected solution: hazelnut farming.

“This is why innovative strategies are essential for reaching those still waiting to hear”

Turkey produces nearly 70% of the world’s hazelnuts, and by training farmers and managing orchards, these workers have created a sustainable business that benefits the local economy. More importantly, it provides permanent presence in a region where many workers are forced to leave.

This initiative, supported by the Project42 Community, is more than agriculture—it is cultivating opportunities for relationships, discipleship, and Gospel conversations.

A Story of Transformation: M’s Journey

Meet M, a native of the region who grew up in a Muslim community. Eight years ago, he chose to follow Jesus—despite pressure, isolation, and the cost of faith in a place with little Christian presence.

“This initiative… is cultivating opportunities for relationships, discipleship, and Gospel conversations.”

When he was offered seasonal work during the hazelnut harvest, M connected with Project42’s partners. Through agricultural training and employment, he found not only stability but also fellowship with other believers.

Today, M is preparing to plant a church in his village—turning his personal transformation into a movement that can change his entire community.
